First tour!

Planning my first tour for Oct 14 through 17 on the Katy Trail. It's a round trip, starting in St. Charles MO and going 81 miles into the Katy trail to Steedman MO and turning around and being back in St. Charles by Sunday, the 17th. I'm 18 year old, new to touring but eager to get better. Look for a rider who is new to touring and willing to adventure on their first tour with me or one who simply wants to accompany.
Steedman is a good distance away that I'm not pushing myself on my first tour in case something goes wrong and to simply enjoy. http://www.bikekatytrail.com/milechart.asp
I plan on starting the trail Oct 14 then getting back into St. Charles Sunday mid day so I can drive back to school.

First tour
Hey Jane,
Sorry no one has responded to your questions. I have looked at the Katy Trail as an option for a future ride but chose as my first tour (solo) the GAP and C&O Canal plus some extra side trips. Am combining the ride of 500-550 miles with some nostalgia as I lived in PA until I was 8. By the way, I am 61 and this is my bike tour. I just started riding 15 months ago.
From what I have read about the Katy - if you don't find anyone to ride with you, you will probably still meet people along the way. If you are not familiar with bicycletouringpro.com you should check him out - he and a buddy did part of the Katy this spring when it was still raining too too much.
Plus he is an overall great cycling resource.
