Losing it in China
Hello.
My first post! Woop!
I'm hoping to do a nice lil tour of China for around 3 months this summer, leaving England during second half of june and returning mid september. Very early stages of planning, but looking at something like a Beijing to Hong Kong trip via Chengdu (gotta see Sichuan, jus gotta), or maybe Shanghai to Delhi? Has anyone got some info on these routes? Interested in joining? All advice very much appreciated for a newcomer. Cycled across Cambodia this summer and discovered the wonders. Thanks
Josh

Cambodia
Hey Josh,
Just discovered the wonders huh?? I just came back from an amazing 2.700 km trip through Cambodia and Thailand. Thailand was bliss compared to Cambodia. And Laos being even better, travelled there two years ago for a month.
Although in Cambodia I bested my travelling average in my 60th year: rode the 103 km of near perfect asphalt from Pursat to Battambang in a blazing 26.1 km/h average racing tuk tuks and motorbikes ...
But then I also twice had to ride 90 km and more (from Kampot to Takeo and from Battambang to Pailin) on bad gravel roads with sand, big stones and potholes being overtaken by real fast 4x4s and buses having to stop every time because I couldn't see anything and trying to breathe with burning eyes. And all their honking didn't help any, the Cambodian drivers are relentless egotists, God bless them I'm still alive.
The trick was to keep the speed up otherwise I would have fallen hitting those stones or riding into those deep potholes ...
I got rearended by a motorbike in Phnom Penh, luckily I didn't suffer any damage but I left the city the very next day anyway, just too much chaos and confusion.
The next time it will be Laos again, my favorite and Northern Thailand.
Good luck on all your trails,
Jörg.
